This area has a variety of flora and fauna which makes this region an attractive destination for ecotourism. Major fauna includes Snow Leopard, Himalayan Ibex, Tibetan Wolf, Red Fox, Stone Marten, Snow Cock, Chukar, Snow pigeon, Booted Eagle and Common kestrel. Major flora consists of Spruce, Juniper spp. Salix spp., Hippophae rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn), Artimesia martima and many other medicinal herbs.

The area of Minapin is accessible by road from Islamabad via Babusar Pass and alternatively via KKH which is an all-weather route. Its distance from Islamabad is around 580 km and one can reach here after a drive of about 13 to 14 hours.

Where to Stay
At present there are two mid-range and six small hotels with a capacity of around 65 rooms available in the village of Minapin to provide boarding and lodging facilities to the visitors. On the trekking route to Rakaposhi and Deran base camp designated camping sites are available and during summer season local community members provide camping accommodation facility to visitors on demand.
